Chapter 1: The Journey from Blogger to Author

Creating my first book was a blend of joy and struggle. The joy stemmed from crafting a vivid universe filled with beloved characters, while the struggle was the challenge of dedicating myself to a single project until its completion—an often harsh requirement for any writer.

After publishing three books, I've discovered a more effective approach. Initially, I was hesitant to share my ideas publicly, fearing they might be taken. This led to me writing in isolation on a concept that pondered, "What if women were in charge of the world?" In retrospect, this was not the best strategy. Solo writers can easily become ensnared in their own thoughts, making it beneficial to seek outside perspectives.

With my second book, The Breath Book, I incorporated stories from Medium, which had already been validated by an audience. This sparked a revelation: why not compile an entire book using my existing Medium articles?

The New Strategy: Write Abundantly and Enjoy the Process I have been actively writing on Medium for over a year, focusing on 3 to 5 themes. This strategy not only helps establish me as a leading writer in those areas but also facilitates the creation of books based on each theme.

Group your stories into categories. Review your articles and categorize them into themes. A great starting point is to use Medium's list feature, allowing you to organize them like book chapters. This also makes it easier for Medium readers to navigate your content.

Copy and paste your articles into a Word document. With your categorized articles ready, go through each one and copy everything—including images—into the document.

Self-publish using a print-on-demand service like Amazon's Kindle. Kindle allows me to publish both paperback and e-book formats. While other platforms exist, none offer the international reach and prompt delivery that Amazon provides.

One of the advantages of writing on Medium is that we maintain the rights to our content unless we enter into specific agreements with publishers. Sharing our work on this platform generates excitement around our projects and encourages us to write more spontaneously.
