How to Increase Your Readership with a Powerful Strategy

Chapter 1: Understanding Passion and Strategy
To achieve success, it's essential to recognize both the passion that drives you and the strategic approach that guides your actions. As Emy Knazovic aptly puts it, “Your passion gives you your unique drive, and your strategy provides the roadmap to your desired outcome.”
A strategy serves as a structured plan designed to help you reach specific goals. Just like in any aspect of life, having a plan is crucial for achieving your objectives; without it, you may find yourself drifting aimlessly.
For an extended period, I poured my heart into writing without any strategic framework. While I didn’t earn a dime, I did manage to positively impact a few women’s lives. Witnessing their transformations sparked a desire in me to learn how to build a business around my writing passion.
During that time, I was juggling a full-time job along with part-time work while raising two children. The only moments I could dedicate to learning were late at night, from 10 p.m. to midnight. I immersed myself in online courses about writing, content creation, and crafting compelling headlines.
It was often challenging to see how my core message connected with the strategies I was learning. Doubts began to creep in:
- “I don’t want to promote myself.”
- “My goal is to help others.”
- “What will others think of me?”
- “What if no one buys?”
These limiting beliefs made me question my ability to create a fulfilling writing career. However, it dawned on me that achieving any goal requires a clear plan. Initially daunting, this plan became more manageable as I learned, implemented, and acted on the strategic steps necessary to further my mission and passion for writing.
Once I grasped this concept, my online presence flourished, and I accumulated over 100,000 followers on LinkedIn. I transitioned from my full-time and part-time jobs to establish an online business that empowered hundreds of women to collectively earn over a million dollars. They overcame their self-doubt and learned to embrace their true selves while pursuing their dreams.
Similarly, on Medium, I connected with remarkable writers and transformed my earnings from $84 in my first month to consistently achieving three- and four-figure months.
Writing for an online audience is fundamentally different from crafting a book or screenplay. It demands an understanding of reader behavior.
What do people typically do online? They skim through content, scan headlines, and scroll past a multitude of articles within a short period. If we fail to captivate our audience's attention, our messages will go unnoticed.
The takeaway is clear: the sooner you acknowledge that your message will only reach those who engage with your headline, the sooner you will begin to prioritize crafting attention-grabbing headlines that resonate with readers.
The headline is just one of several strategic steps that, when executed correctly, can significantly broaden your audience. Mastering this skill enhances your writing’s visibility.
“Combine your passion with strategy, and you’ll experience the results you’re looking for.” — Emy Knazovic
I recommend using a free headline analyzer tool that has helped me increase my readership by 80% compared to when I wrote headlines spontaneously.
Applying strategic thinking to your writing can empower you to pursue what you love while also achieving your personal and professional goals.
