Finding True Success: The Power of Letting Go

Chapter 1: The Childhood Perspective on Success
As children, the concept of success was never a source of concern for us. If someone had defined success at that age, we would have set simple, achievable goals for the day and joyfully proclaimed our victories. Success was something we could grasp immediately, right in front of us.
However, as we matured and life introduced greater responsibilities and expectations, our perception of success shifted dramatically. It morphed into a distant target that required immense effort to attain. Ironically, the more we strove for this elusive success, the less we often seemed to achieve.
This paradox is intriguing. While we may have accumulated some successes, the stress and worries that accompanied them lessened. It was not the accumulation of achievements that fostered our sense of success, but rather the stripping away of burdens.
Section 1.1: Wisdom of the Elderly
Have you noticed how older individuals often exude a deeper sense of satisfaction than their younger counterparts? This contentment doesn't stem from having more or from different life experiences; instead, it arises from a profound understanding of what truly matters.
Through a multitude of jobs, they've learned that no position can define them. After enduring numerous hardships, they recognize that these experiences aren't as dreadful as they initially seemed. Ultimately, after achieving various milestones and accumulating wealth over their lifetimes, they've realized that such pursuits are not the core of fulfillment.
Subsection 1.1.1: The Value of Less
Successful individuals learn that material wealth is not the key to happiness. Those at the pinnacle of their careers discover that status holds little significance. People who continuously earn accolades come to understand that accomplishments alone do not equate to fulfillment.
What do you think would be the most rewarding aspect of having more money? Sure, the ability to travel and indulge in personal interests is appealing. Yet, if we were candid with ourselves, the most liberating aspect would be the alleviation of financial worries.
Section 1.2: The Realization of True Success
When individuals achieve success—regardless of its form—they often release the notion that these external factors will bring joy or fulfillment. In doing so, they draw closer to genuine success.
In my view, a truly successful person isn't defined by abundance but rather by a sense of happiness derived from simplicity. This individual feels accomplished without external validation, having shed negative thoughts and stressors. They enjoy a freedom that makes life significantly easier.
