Inspiration: The Power Beyond Motivation for Lasting Change
Written on
Chapter 1: The Nature of Motivation
Motivation can feel exhilarating, can't it? That rush of energy, that sense of invincibility—it’s a common experience. You might feel ready to conquer the world or tackle even the smallest of tasks. But herein lies the issue: these feelings are often temporary. Your motivation fluctuates with your emotions, leading to a cycle that can feel frustrating.
A life coach once introduced me to a fascinating resource called CHX MoJo. The premise was simple: answer ten questions three times a day, starting with, "Do you feel...?"—be it panicky, confused, or downhearted. After a week of tracking my emotions, I realized something striking: my feelings were all over the place! One moment I was content, the next I was bewildered, and by evening, I could be downright chaotic. This ebb and flow is a natural part of being human; our emotions respond to a constantly changing world.
However, the challenge lies not in experiencing these emotions but in how we respond to them. Are we merely reacting, or are we able to engage thoughtfully?
> The main point here is simple: emotion is a feeling, while motivation is a response.
When I feel joy, I might be motivated to exercise; when I'm sad, that motivation fades. This seesawing of emotions means that our progress can stall.
Instead, let's shift the focus from fleeting motivation to something more profound—Inspiration.
Section 1.1: Understanding Inspiration
Inspiration is a more sustainable form of energy. Imagine it as a high-efficiency fuel that doesn't deplete quickly. A recent question posed on social media asked, "Why don't we create magnificent structures like we used to?" The answers varied, but I believe it stems from a lack of inspiration in our generation.
Unlike today, where many consume motivational content online, past generations relied on deep-rooted faith and belief—elements that foster inspiration. They didn't merely act out of motivation; they were driven by a profound sense of purpose and commitment.
Section 1.2: The Role of Faith
Faith is believing in what you cannot see. Individuals with faith understand that their desired outcomes exist in a spiritual realm; they work not to create this reality but to manifest it. This strong belief, this deep inspiration, fuels their actions.
When I say, "I am inspired to achieve this goal," it's not a mere thought or feeling; it’s a conviction that it’s part of my life’s journey. Each effort, regardless of the outcome, contributes to a richer narrative.
Chapter 2: Cultivating Your Inspiration
Do you possess faith in your pursuits, however small they may be? You don’t have to undertake monumental projects to feel inspired. Whether it’s writing a book, mastering an instrument, or getting fit, you can approach these goals with a sense of purpose.
Find that spark of inspiration—the belief that what you want is attainable and vivid in your mind.

If This Doesn't Motivate You, Nothing Will - Oprah Winfrey
In one of her most inspiring speeches, Oprah emphasizes the power of belief and purpose in achieving your goals.
Take the time to cultivate your inspiration through practices like meditation or visualization. When you are truly inspired, you won’t need constant encouragement. The drive to act will come naturally, regardless of obstacles.
I am on a mission—whether grand or humble—believing that I am meant to achieve this. My journey toward financial freedom, physical health, or literary success is fueled by inspiration.
When inspiration guides your actions, doubt and resistance fade away. I hope this message encourages you to seek inspiration over mere motivation.
